The Government is currently looking after thousands of estates up and down the country that have been left unclaimed after the owners died without any next of kin, including hundreds in London.
These are now open to be claimed by anyone who shares a surname with the deceased.

Among the many unclaimed estates across London, you can find 26 of these in the East London borough of Waltham Forest. This means if you are able to prove kinship, then you would be able to inherit the estates and may be entitled to more than just that.
You will have to prove your family tree to show how you are related to the person which includes the dates of birth, marriages, and deaths of all those on the tree. You also have to be the next in line for inheritance and you can see what that looks like, plus further information about making a claim on the Government's website.
The oldest date on the list for Waltham Forest dates back to 29 years to 1994, this is due to the cut off date for claims being 30 years, so any older unclaimed estates will not have new claims accepted.
Below is a list of the 26 people who have died in Waltham Forest, or have links to the borough and left behind unclaimed estates as of August 10, 2023:
This list was compiled using Government data which can be found here. You can find information about making a claim on the Government's website here.
